Our very own Olivia E. Mitchell is retiring following 52 years of service! Mitchell began her City service in 1974 when she joined the staff of Mayor Tom Bradley. Her career would ultimately span six mayors, including Mayor Karen Bass.
Throughout her career, Mitchell developed and implemented leadership development programs for the disenfranchised, including foster and probation youth and gang-involved young people.
In recognition of her legacy, the L.A. City Youth Council, overseen by the Youth Development Department, is officially named the Olivia E. Mitchell L.A. City Youth Council. The council seats 30 empowered youth from across the City who serve a one-year term and learn about the inner workings of local government.
Congratulations to Olivia, and thank you for the great service and inspiration!
