The Community Investment for Families Department (CIFD) announced four new FamilySource Centers while commencing Free Tax Prep L.A. assistance for Angelenos across the City on Feb. 8 during a press event to celebrate the expansion of services for families in need.
CIFD General Manager Abigail R. Marquez joined City Councilmembers Heather Hutt, Hugo Soto-Martinez, Deputy Mayor Brenda Shockley, and families of the programs for the announcement at the new West Adams/Leimert Park FamilySource Center.
Free Tax Prep L.A. help was provided to clients before and after the event as IRS-certified Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites are now open to provide guidance on how to leverage more than $10,000 in cash back refunds from federal and state earned income tax credits. CIFD facilitates these services at their now 19 FSC sites, expanding from 16 previously. The FSC expansion will increase the number of low-income people served to 50,000 children and families.
