CIFD and Free Tax Prep L.A. (FTPLA) collaborated on a pair of events that helped families claim nearly 13K in tax returns. On April 13, in partnership with FTPLA, the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs, and Koreatown Youth and Community Center, provided free tax preparation services at the Homeboy Industries Pathway Forward: Empowerment Clinic. Participants attending the event received assistance filing expungement petitions, community resources to essential services, and IRS-certified VITA volunteers helped individuals and families prepare their taxes and file for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez attended the event and connected with our collaborative as well as the array of service providers providing resources.
On April 15, CIFD, in collaboration with Koreatown Youth Community Center, El Nido Family Centers - Pacoima, NEW Economics for Women, and Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, provided free tax preparation services at Pacoima City Hall to Council District 7 constituents. Both events successfully processed returns and helped educate families on this year's tax extension.
